His All Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew, Archbishop of
Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch will
arrive in Estonia for a visit.The Patriarch is scheduled
to arrive on Thursday, 26 October, on a special flight
from Istanbul. At 18.00 he will officiate at a church
service at the Transfiguration of Christ Cathedral in
Tallinn.
On
Friday, 27 October
the Patriarch will meet President Lennart MERI, the
Speaker of the Riigikogu Toomas SAVI, Prime Minister
Mart LAAR and Minister of Interior Affairs Tarmo LOODUS.
On
Saturday, 28 October,
the Patriarch has a meeting with the Mayor of Tallinn,
Jüri MÕIS. At 15.00 at Lutheran Cathedral
of St. Mary, for an Ecumenical Celebration, with Lutheran
Archbishop Jaan KIIVIT, and Apostolic Nuncio. At 16.30
he officiate in Transfiguration of Christ Cathedral
for Vespers, followed by a meeting of Estonian Orthodox
Church's Youth.
On
Sunday, 29 October,
at 9.00 Patriarch celebrates a Patriarchal Liturgy with
Metropolitan Stephanos and the clergy of the Estonian
Orthodox Church. At 12.00 meeting with the people of
the parish. At 16.30 Blessing of St. Simeon church for
the beginning of the restoration of the church. At 19.30
reception given by the Embassy of Greece in the Estonian
Museum of Art in Kadriorg.
On
Monday, 30 October,
Patriarch will meet with TARTU City leaders and the
rector of Tartu University. At the University the Patriarch
will lecture on the subject "search of meaning
of life". In the evening the Patriarch will make
a trip to Võru.
On
Tuesday, 31 October,
he will visit Värska and Põltsamaa. In all
these places the Patriarch will also officiate at church
services.
On
Wednesday, 1 November
at 10.00 at hotel Palace in Tallinn the Patriarch and
the head of the Estonian Orthodox Church, metropolitan
Stephanos, will give a joint press conference. The languages
of the press conference will be Estonian, English and
French. The Patriarch will leave Estonia this same day.
